# Overview

Eye Care Professionals and online contact lens retailers can use Visibly to power glasses and contact lens prescription renewal for users. This can be done by using the Visibly API for online vision testing. Steps to do so:

1. Use the API to generate a vision test URL (See [Start a Vision Test](/developer-guides/vision-testing/start-vision-test))
2. Use the API to poll for status updates (See [Get a Vision Test](/developer-guides/vision-testing/get-vision-test))
3. Optionally, subscribe to webhooks for real time updates (See [Vision Test Webhooks](/developer-guides/vision-testing/vision-test-webhooks))


Important: all vision test query responses and webhook payloads include standard values for `status` fields. See [Vision Test Statuses](/developer-guides/vision-testing/vision-test-statuses) for the full list.
